Cheogram Android Privacy Policy
Cheogram Android is an Jabber client that connects to an Jabber service over the XMPP protocol. Cheogram Android will never upload data to the developer. The only exception to this rule is data collected after a crash.
Cheogram Android or its developers don’t have control over the data you send through the app. However the following data might get uploaded to your Jabber service:
Data uploaded to your Jabber Service
- Messages. This includes text messages, images and other files
- Your profile picture, if you choose to upload one
- Contacts that you add from within the app
- Your OMEMO public keys used to enable people to send you encrypted messages
What does not get uploaded
- If you got Cheogram Android from Google Play then your contact list is uploaded to the server, otherwise if you got the app from anywhere else the contacts from your phone’s address book are not uploaded and never published anywhere. Cheogram Android only asks permissions to read your contacts to show the profile pictures and names of the corresponding contacts. If you opt-out of this permission Cheogram Android will work just fine.
Gateways
- If you opt in to a gateway, interactions with contacts via that gateway will be sent to the gateway provider. A PSTN gateway you add (such as cheogram.com) would for example receive the phone numbers of any gateway contact you choose to interact with.
Cheogram Android Account Deletion
Cheogram Android is a Jabber client that connects to a Jabber service using the XMPP protocol. Any accounts you create through the app are with a Jabber service of your choosing and are not managed by the developers of Cheogram Android. Please contact your service administrators for any account or data deletion requests.
